THE PROBLEM
When a bespoke machine vice suddenly fractured during operation, one of our key customers was forced to shut down production immediately. Because the vice was a custom-built component, a like0for-like replacement wasn’t readily available and waiting for a new unit to be manufactured would have resulted in costly downtime and delayed orders. The customer needed a rapid and reliable repair to forget their machine operational again as quickly as possible.
THE SOLUTION
HAYLEY 247 DEXIS immediately mobilised to provide emergency engineering support. Once the damaged vice arrived at our facility, our team began work straight away. The repair involved:
– A specialised cast iron weld repair to restore the structural integrity of the vice
– Precision machining to ensure correct geometry and clamping alignment
– Final inspection and functional checks prior to reinstallation
By combining appropriate welding techniques with skilled machining, we were able to deliver a durable solution that returned the vice to full working condition.
THE RESULT
The repair was completed quickly, allowing the customer to restart production without the long delays associated with sourcing a new bespoke component. the vice was restored both structurally and mechanically, with no compromise on performance or accuracy. This project highlights HAYLEY 247 DEXIS ability to respond rapidly when downtime is not an option. Providing fast, effective and technically sound solutions that keep operations moving.
