Thermal imaging is an extremely powerful method of monitoring and troubleshooting electrical, mechanical and structural systems which may have problems that remain undetected using standard visual inspection and diagnostic techniques.
A Non-Evasive and Non-Destructive Procedure Using Infrared Technology
We use the latest infrared (IR) thermography camera technology to detect fluctuations in temperature that could indicate potential problems. Thermal imaging is an extremely powerful method of monitoring and troubleshooting electrical, mechanical and structural systems which may have problems that remain undetected using standard visual inspection and diagnostic techniques.
An electrical thermal imaging survey is a non-evasive and non-destructive procedure using infrared technology.
Our engineers are fully trained and carry BINDT Infrared Thermography qualifications.
Thermal Imaging Survey
An electrical thermal imaging survey can be used on different types of equipment including:

- Switchgears and switchboards
Using IR technology on electrical infrastructure is a recognised method of predictive maintenance and can be effective at fault-finding prior to equipment failure. Our strict protocols ensure that the faults we document require investigation and possibly remedial work and are not simply loaded circuits being misidentified as faults.
Thermal Imaging Survey Safety
During an electrical thermal Imaging survey, our engineers will work alongside a competent on-site electrician, in order to gain safe access to control panels and carry-out the investigation.
All fuses and circuit breakers are photographed, with any abnormal temperatures found being recorded. Typical discoveries include abnormally hot fuse wires, which can cause overheating and damage to electrical circuits, and are often a result of loose connections.
We encourage regular surveys at fixed intervals to enable our customers to build up a history of each asset. Persistent faults in the same areas may indicate a wider issue which must be detected and remedied as soon as possible.
