The Situation
A Hansen Patent NG33 triple reduction bevel/helical gearbox was removed from service for emergency inspection after concerns over its condition. During strip-down, our engineers identified worn seal rings, damaged locking components, and bevel gear contact patterns that required correction to achieve a more favourable running position and ensure reliable operation.
The Solution
Our team carried out a complete overhaul, replacing all bearings, seals, nilos rings, locknuts, and tab washers. The bevel gear contact pattern was carefully adjusted to optimise gear meshing, while all gears were dressed and polished before reassembly to improve running performance.
Following the rebuild, the gearbox underwent comprehensive testing and final inspection to verify its performance before being released for service.
The Result
The emergency overhaul successfully restored the Hansen Patent NG33 gearbox to full operational condition within the required turnaround time. By addressing wear, replacing critical components, and optimising the gear contact pattern, the unit was returned to site ready for reliable continued operation.
